Best Buy Canada will be hosting its annual “Tech it Away” event on May 26 at nine select store locations where consumers can bring in any used or unwanted electronics for free for recycling.

The nine locations are spread out between the Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver metro areas (see list below), but not all the stores are necessarily close to the cities themselves. Each store will collect the e-waste between 12-5 p.m. on May 26 only. The items include, but aren’t limited to, TVs, desktop and laptop computers, printers, cell phones, DVD players, speakers, batteries and other gadgets. A full list of accepted items is available here.

Best Buy also announced that each consumer who drops off electronics for recycling will automatically be entered into a draw for a chance to win a $1,000 Best Buy Gift Card.

The Tech it Away program has been ongoing since its inception in 2009, and the retailer says it has helped divert more than 100 tonnes from landfills. The goal is to recycle over 150,000 pounds of e-waste from the one-day event, though there has been no word yet on whether the program will eventually expand to a wider number of stores and geographies next year.
