A smartphone can be the most important tool in a working woman’s arsenal. Which means you don’t want to forget it, or have it run out of juice. And you want to receive all of your important notifications in a timely fashion. Here are five hot tech items that are great complements to a smartphone to help ensure it’s used as effectively as possible.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve left the house with a portable charger in tow, but I’ve forgotten my cable. Some of the latest chargers can plug directly into your phone. Or, you can grab a charging case. But if you still use one that needs a cable, this cable is a clever concept. If you unplug your phone without unplugging the cable too, it will beep until you either grab the cable, or place your thumb over the sensor to silence it. There are versions for both microUSB and Lightning devices, plus a two-in-one option that has both. $20-$35

This case negates the need to bring a portable charging device or cables with you altogether. It charges via exposure to the sun, taking a couple hours to fully charge. It will then give your phone a boost before it recharges itself. There are three colour options – black, blue, or orange. And for those ladies who like the oversized iPhone 6 Plus, a version for that phone will be coming in the Spring.

Lipstick-style charges are typically the ones that are touted as being “design-friendly” for women. But it’s a little cliché. This credit card-sized charger is one of the nicest looking I’ve seen, available in funky different patterns and colours. The 3,000 mAmp battery supplies 1 Amp output for charging up a smartphone on-the-go, and you can grab one with either a microUSB port or Lightning for an iPhone.

There are plenty of fashion-forward wearables aimed at women. But one of the sexiest is this watch, which looks just like a standard wristwatch but for the tiny LED under the watchface that displays scrolling text, including caller ID information, text messages, e-mails, or other notifications from a connected smartphone. Developed in partnership with Martian, it can also accept voice commands from Siri (Apple iOS) or Google Now (Android) devices. It won’t be available until Q3, though. It looks chic and professional on the wrist, but can help keep a businesswoman on top of meetings, important calls, and calendar items. $350

This power bank is particularly suited to the businesswoman who tends to travel a lot. It has 5,200 mAh of powerand doubles as a Bluetooth speaker, as well as a speakerphone, for conducting hands-free or conference calls. When you need to have a private chat, just switch to using the removable earbud Bluetooth headset – the call will intelligently move over to the headset as soon as you pick it up. The device is about the size of a standard smartphone, easily fitting into a purse or briefcase with your mobile device. And it charges up both your phone and the headset.
