The event featured acrobats, synchronized trapeze artists, a jive-talking cab driver – and some of the best tech companies in the country!
Microsoft Canada handed out IMPACT awards at the Capitol Event Theatre in downtown Toronto.
To add to the impact, Microsoft Canada handed out some 30 IMPACT Awards at the 8th Annual Awards Gala.
The awards honour excellence and achievement in developing and delivering custom technology applications and enterprise solutions that support business success in a number of categories and industry sectors.
Companies that are registered or certified in the Microsoft Partner Network were eligible for the awards, but they had to get through a tough evaluation and judging process first, one that took a hard look at their initiatives.
Creativity and innovation in the solution are expected, but so too solid evidence of measurable results and demonstrable ROI. Other key project metrics had to be submitted, describing the targeted nature of the project, its scale and scope, along with connectivity to existing Microsoft Customer Campaigns.

- Award winners had to survive some good natured ribbing from TV personality Adam Wood, a licensed taxi driver and star of the Discovery Channel reality show Cash Cab. Wood throws trivia questions at his unsuspecting passengers and, if correct, they can win prizes. If they answer incorrectly, they may be tossed from the cab. Apparently, no one was ejected from the IMPACT Awards!

- In total, 30 awards were presented to tech solution providers from across the country (in some cases, individual companies received more than one award for their work).

- “Our annual IMPACT Awards celebrate the infinite possibilities innovative technology partners bring to customers on a regular basis,” Corinne Sharp, National Director, Canadian Partner Network, Microsoft Canada Inc., handing out awards, here to CMS Consulting.

- “Infinite possibilities” was the buzzword for the technology innovations honoured by Microsoft Canada; the catchphrase includes the evening’s entertainment, featuring at one point professional acrobatic teams flying high with their own cool technology.

- The Development Solution of the Year award was presented to Infusion, a company founded in 1998 in New York City that grown to become a global player, with offices in Toronto among other international locales. The company develops custom applications for multiple platforms, including Silverlight-powered websites, the Surface multi-touch display table and smartphone devices like the iPhone.

- Navantis was another dual winner, taking Sales (CRM) Solution and Unified Communications Solution of the Year awards.
