Treat Mom to Tech for Mother’s Day This Year

May 7, 2025

It’s that time again. Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11, 2025. It’s that special day to pamper mom and show her you care. Truthfully, what mom really wants is a day to herself to relax, whether that’s in front of the TV, sleeping in while everyone else takes care of chores, having brunch on the patio, or hitting up the spa. But don’t forget a thoughtful card and gift, ideally something she can use again and again. Tech is a great place to start.

Here, we have compiled this list of some of the best tech for mom this year.

Ultrahuman Ring AIR Smart Ring

Smart rings are the new smartwatches. Not only can they track many of the same stats a smartwatch can, some moms prefer them because they eliminate distractions. They quietly track your vitals, activity, and stats in the background with data stored in the app for when you want to look at it, or when you get a relevant push notification. Even if mom already has a smartwatch, a smart ring is a nice complement, especially one that doesn’t require a subscription. What’s great about the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, which I have tested myself, is that it’s stylish and tracks tons of data including calories burned, sleep, skin temperature, heart rate and heart rate variability, stress, and more. It works with something called PowerPlugs, basically apps built into the main app you can download to track metrics that are most relevant to you. Some of these are free, like Vitamin D, cycle and ovulation, screentime, circadian alignment, and caffeine window. But there are paid subscription-based ones, too, like Afib Detection ($4.90/mo.), and Cardio Adaptability ($2.90/mo.) At $480, it’s on the expensive side. But that’s precisely why you should get one for mom since she probably won’t invest in one herself. Note that you’ll need to order the sizing kit first for mom to try it on. Once she selects the right size, you can put in an order for the real deal. I recommend the Bionic Gold finish.

Kensington KM270 EQ Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Desktop Set

Perfect for moms who work from home, this set includes the Kensington KM270 EQ wireless keyboard and mouse, both of which operate wirelessly and are rechargeable. Mom will love that it’s environmentally friendly, made of at least 60% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic and comes in Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified packaging. Connect to both Windows and Mac computers via USB-A nano receiver (with AES 128-bit encryption) or Bluetooth 5.0. The rechargeable 500mAh battery lasts up to four months, so mom can take the set with her to and from work, even up to the cottage when she wants some downtime during her work-from-home days. There’s even a dedicated Copilot key for accessing the latest AI features along with a numeric keypad. Did I mention it’s also spillproof thanks to the sealed membrane, so no worry about feeding baby while working. We’re running a contest through May 20, 2025 for this set, valued at $79, so enter now and you might be able to snag one for dad for Father’s Day, too!

Kensington EQ 14-inch Laptop Backpack

Does mom travel a lot, or commute to the office and back? If so, a solid new laptop backpack is a thoughtful gift that can carry all her essentials while being comfortable to wear for her commutes. The Kensington EQ Laptop Backpack can carry an up to 14-inch laptop or tablet and it has padded shoulder straps and a cushioned backside with breathable mesh fabric, ideal for the upcoming summer months and perfect as a carry-on personal item. There are tons of compartments inside for mom to carry everything from her notepad to her phone, cables and chargers, wallet, and other accessories. It’s also made from plastic bottles via PET polyester yarn. Valued at $50, we’re giving away one of these convenient backpacks in a contest running through May 15, 2025.

Cricut Maker 4 Smart Cutting Machine

Does mom love to get creative at home? If she has been using the same cutting machine for a while, upgrade her to the Cricut Maker 4, one the latest models in the line. Available in Seashell and Sage, it comes with plenty of materials for mom to get started making everything from T-shirts to greeting cards, including vinyl, cardstock, iron-ons, and more. The machine is up to two times faster than previous generation models, so mom won’t be spending all day making this year’s family Christmas cards and custom T-shirts for the teambuilding event. If mom doesn’t own a machine yet but you think this is a hobby she might love, this is a good option, too, since it’s designed for beginners. It includes access to tutorials with introductions on how to design, cut, and assemble. Regularly $549 but on sale at the time of this writing for $489, you can re-stock mom this Christmas with plenty more materials to last for months more of creative projects.

OnePlus Watch 3 Smartwatch

If mom has an Android phone, especially a OnePlus device, the OnePlus Watch 3 is a fabulous complement. Available for $450, it sports among the best battery life you’ll find in a premium smartwatch, lasting up to five days per charge, 16 days in power-saving mode. Is mom wanting to head out for a run last minute? She can charge it for 10 minutes to get another full day. For a busy mom who doesn’t have time to recharge her smartwatch daily, the OnePlus Watch 2 is perfect. And it has tons of cool health and wellness features, personalization options for the watch face, accurate GPS, and more.

Kobo Libra Color eReader

Many moms love to relax with a good novel, and an eReader makes this simple since mom can carry thousands of books in one lightweight package with a screen that mimics that of a paperback. The Kobo Libra Colour is a great option since mom can not only read but also annotate pages, jot down notes or journal entries, and highlight lines with the optional Kobo Stylus 2. The eReader has a large 7-inch e Ink Kaleido 3 display that can show colours as well but still eliminates glare and is easy on the eyes. It can hold up to 24,000 eBooks or 150 Audiobooks in its 32GB storage and boasts weeks of battery life per charge, making it perfect to bring along on vacations and long flights, too. Enter our contest to win one of these eReaders along with a Stylus 2 and SleepCover for the full package valued at $395. Want to up the ante? Grab her a gift card as well so she can download a few eBooks and/or Audiobooks to get started on her journey to reading relaxation.  Enter our contest to WIN the ultimate Kobo package and enjoy ereading and note taking in full colour
