The annual Made by Google event introduced an updated line of products for the Pixel brand, including three new traditional-style smartphones, a foldable phone, a new smartwatch, and plenty of AI innovations for all. Following the event, Google also launched AI Search in Canada. Here are the highlights.
Google Pixel 10 Smartphone Family

Google Pixel 10
The latest Google Pixel 10 series phones include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 XL, following Google’s usual “good, better, best” launch. All are made from spacecraft-grade aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and meet IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, making them ultra-durable.
Along with the refined UI, they are powered by the new Google Tensor G5 chip, which ensures the latest on-device AI processing runs smoothly. A neat new feature is that each phone has Qi2 magnetic technology built in called Pixelsnap, which allows you to attach wireless accessories like chargers, stands, and grips, right to the back of the phone, much like you can already do with the latest iPhones (and other Android devices, though that requires a MagSafe case). Google is offering its own selection of snap-on accessories, but others from Made for Google partners will work, too. I tried a magnetic charger from UGreen I use with my iPhone and it works.
The phones come with seven years of OS and security updates, alongside frequent Pixel Drops with new features.

Google AI on Pixel Gets Upgrades
All the new Google phones boast enhanced AI features through Gemini Live, all done through natural conversational style. You can do things like connect to Maps to find nearby locations and instantly text the location to contacts, add a reservation to your calendar, and send you a reminder when to head out so you make it on time. See something interesting in front of you? Share your camera view with Gemini Live to get more information.
A brand-new feature is called Magic Cue, which anticipates your needs to suggest relevant next actions. You can call up flight details in your e-mail, for example, or bring up the address of an Airbnb or hotel instantly when a friend messages to ask for the details.
All the same useful AI photo editing tools carry over to these new phones, along with some new and enhanced ones. Camera Coach is an interesting one powered by Gemini that offers suggestions as you frame a photo, helping you adjust angles, lighting, and photo capture mode to get the best result.
Best Take, which lets you combine multiple photos of the same subjects to get the best group shot, is also now automatic. The Add Me feature, meanwhile, has also been improved to accommodate adding yourself as the photographer to bigger group photos.
The Google Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL will both come with a one-year subscription to Google Pixel AI Pro at launch, after which it will require a paid subscription to continue.
Other New Pixel Products
Google announced several new complementary products as well.
Google Pixel Watch 4: It has longer battery life than the Pixel Watch 3, a domed Actua display, support for standalone Satellite Communication, and on-wrist access to Gemini AI. It’s also serviceable for the first time, with both the battery and display replaceable. Advanced health and fitness features include smarter sleep tracking, enhanced skin temperature sensing, dual-frequency GPS, real-time bike stats, new exercise modes like pickleball and basketball, and automatic AI activity tracking. There’s also a personal AI health coach, powered by Gemini. It will be available on October 9, 2025, and starts at $480.
Google Pixel Buds 2a: These new value buds are the first in the A series to offer active noise cancellation. They are powered by the Tensor A1 chip and come with built-in Google AI access as well. Smaller and lighter than the previous generation, they are IP54 sweat and water resistant, have longer battery life, and a replaceable case battery. Use Find Hub to locate the buds if they are lost or misplaced. They are coming October 9, 2025 for $179.
The biggest upgrade with the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is a smaller, lighter, and more secure design that fits comfortably in all ear shapes, along with a new Tensor AI chip that affords better noise cancellation, sound quality with spatial audio, improved mics, and access to Gemini Live. They also boast longer battery life and come with Find My and a speaker built into the included charging case. They’re available now for $299.
AI Mode in Google Search
Separate from the mobile announcements and following the Made by Google event, Google announced the rollout of AI Mode in Google Search for Canada. You may have already noticed this AI search experience appear as an option in your Chrome browser. The idea is to use more advanced reasoning and help you get deeper answers to questions along with more helpful links. It’s designed to assist especially with multi-part questions that require follow ups, ideal for when you’re planning a trip, for example, or researching detailed information on a specific topic. Rather than conduct multiple searches, you can keep a conversation going and get everything you need through a single search.
It works by breaking down questions into subtopics using Google’s query fan-out technique. It can understand natural language, but you can also search using text and even images form your camera. If there isn’t high confidence in an answer to a specific query, Google will show a set of web search results instead, as it has always done.
AI Mode is currently available in English only in Canada, with plans for more languages in the future. It’s accessible from a web browser on your computer as well as through the Google app for both Android and iOS.
