New digital gear from Chinese manufacturer OnePlus includes a powerful new tablet, enhanced noise cancelling headphones and a dual frequency GPS smartwatch.

Newly introduced accessories – including the OnePlus Stylo 2 and the OnePlus Pad 2 Smart Keyboard – add to the feature-packed and functional line-up.

The new AI-enabled OnePlus Pad 2 expands the company’s portfolio of tablets, joining the original Pad and the Pad Go, and right away it takes one of the top spots among Android tablets now available on the market.

With a large, 12.1 inch, 7:5 ratio, 3K display and six stereo speakers, the Pad 2 looks and sounds good for all manner of gaming, streaming and media activities. There’s a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

The tablet has a 6.49 mm slim body and weighs just under 600 g, so it’s not too heavy (slightly heavier than the previous version and other devices). Slim bezel edges have a limited number of buttons or connections (Type C USB, but no 3.5 mm, for example) but it does house a magnetic charger point for the Stylo and connections for the smart keyboard. The all-metal unibody is coloured Nimbus Gray.

Speed and productivity get a big boost with the Pad 2, particularly from the high-performance chipset and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, one of the first tablets to have the powerful processor on board.

Compared to Qualcomm’s SD Gen 2 chipset, the new processor delivers 25 per cent faster rendering and improved power usage, and the Gen 3’s enhanced Adreno GPU handles intense computing, fast refresh gaming, and stutter-free streaming. Dual band Wi-Fi (including 5, 6, and 7) as well as key Bluetooth connections are supported.

The OnePlus Pad 2 also delivers on battery life and charging times. It has a large 9,510mAh battery (rated with a standby time of up to 43 days) that supports a good 12-14 hours of moderate activity. Using compatible 67W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge technology, the Pad 2 battery is brought back up to full charge in little over an hour.

The OnePlus Android 14/Oxygen OS environment was designed to distribute and allocate the Pad 2’s many resources for the best connectivity and user experience. And a host of AI features, through the OnePlus AI Toolbox, are in place to help users get the most out of work – and play!

Video games and streaming movies look great on the bright, 12.1-inch 3K display, with its 3,000 x 2,120-pixel resolution. Algorithms driving the screen mean it can swap among 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz and even 144Hz screen refresh frequencies, based on what you’re doing on your tablet and matching certain gaming presets. OnePlus uses its HyperBoost and HyperRendering graphic tools to get the best out of immersive gaming activities. The Pad 2 also uses Dolby Vision for its enhanced viewing experience.

When not playing, road warriors and home office workers can, through that AI Toolbox, accelerate their workflows by having AI Speak read text aloud while multitasking, or call on Recording Summary to instantly summarize and condense information from long passages of text into key points, or even open up the AI Writer for help creating original content based on image and text prompts.

Whatever is on your screen, you can take advantage of the Pad 2’s Open Canvas and App Auto Adaption feature, which lets you divide the available screen real estate among different applications, and configure the display as three-split, split left-right, centred or full screen.

Another key productivity feature with the Pad 2 allows for easy connectivity (via set-up accounts and NFC) to OnePlus and Oppo smartphones, letting you drag-and-drop files between devices or even mirror the screens.

What’s more, if your Pad 2 is logged on to the same OnePlus account as your OnePlus phone, the 5G signal from the phone is shared directly with the Pad 2. When your smartphone is connected to a new Wi-Fi network, the OnePlus Pad 2 automatically shares the same connection.

Connecting via multi-pin pogo plug or wirelessly via Bluetooth, the new Smart Keyboard for the Pad 2 is one of the best such devices included with a tablet. There’s a large (twice as large as previous models) trackpad with haptic feedback, and the five keyboard rows (keys are tightly spaced) have a nice response. It tilts between about 110 degrees and 165 degrees, and with the wireless option, the lightweight keyboard and Pad 2 combo makes for a nice workspace wherever you go.

Add on the new Stylo 2 pen with its enhanced grip, sensitive tracking and multi-use replaceable tip, you can write with your choice of virtual devices, you can navigate your files and desktop, or use it to control an outboard presentation.

OnePlus has also released the new Buds Pro 3 in a newly redesigned charging case and a two-tone finish (the Buds themselves come in two colours now).  Featuring dual-driver technology and a two Digital-to-Analog converters, the pro buds deliver powerful bass and crisp treble sounds, cleaned up with top-notch noise cancellation and spatial audio powered by Dynaudio, the Danish loudspeaker manufacturer.

Likewise, the new Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-enabled OnePlus Watch 2R builds on previous versions; like the Watch 2, it uses a Dual-Engine Architecture with ultra-precise dual-frequency GPS.

It boasts a 100-hour battery life in a lightweight aluminum body and is also now available in two colours.

The OnePlus Pad 2 is currently available online with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, for $689.99 (CDN).  Pricing on the main accessories is currently discounted with Pad 2 purchase; the smart magnetic keyboard is normally $209.99; the Stylo 2 is $149.99.
