As parents get used to their new babies, the little ones are settling into their routines. Thankfully, there are apps to help along the way. When you’re the primary caregiver of a newborn, there’s not much you can do for yourself. All your attention and time is consumed by your baby. You’re constantly on cycles for feeding, changing, burping and you sleep when baby sleeps, eat and shower whenever you can. That is why a properly outfitted smartphone can serve as a lifeline for new parents. Here are some great apps that can prove helpful for parents
Baby Log Lite Tracking your baby’s feeding, sleeping and diaper changing times helps establish patterns and is good information to have handy when getting check-ups from doctors or primary care providers.
Baby Log Lite is an easy to use app that enables the tracking and charting of many of the most important day-to-day occurrences in a babies’ life. My wife used Baby Log Lite for our son’s first year and was able to easily enter, chart and retrieve information from her iPhone.
The app is helpful in ensuring that baby gets enough sleep, is feeding regularly and that the diapers are being filled as expected.
Baby Log Lite aims to make things easier by tracking of your baby’s natural eating and sleeping rhythms, Baby Log makes it easy to anticipate your baby’s needs even when you’re stressed, tired and overwhelmed.
Babies, specially newborns are unpredictable, a tool like Baby Log Lite can help find patterns of order for parents.
TV and Entertainment Apps
When caring for my son as a newborn, I was often holding him in the nursery or in bed with very little room to move, or with one hand rocking him to sleep. My smartphone was pretty much my link to the world and for the odd hours and late nights putting him to sleep, I relied on various TV and Entertainment apps to pass the time. Netflix was a staple but for catching up on my favourite TV shows, I used the Rogers Anyplace TV app which turned my smartphone into a TV enabling me to watch some live shows and some older episodes. Of course many networks like Global, CTV and CP24 have their own apps as well.
New parents are always concerned about their newborn’s welfare. Since babies can only cry to to communicate, it becomes difficult to find out if they are in pain or discomfort.
While it isn’t a substitute for a real pediatrician or medical care provider, WebMD Baby is a good resource for trusted medical and pediatric information that can be very helpful to parents.
WebMD Baby allows access hundreds of articles and videos developed and approved by WebMD doctor, there are also tools like a Growth Tracker, Feeding Tracker, Baby Book, Sleep Tracker and Searchable Content.
These are some of the many useful apps for new parents that make life with a newborn a little easier.
What a great APP.. so many wonderful features!
