CES 2024 is right around the corner, set to take place in Las Vegas from January 9-12, 2024. This year, artificial intelligence (AI) will be at the core of the trade show. This will involve AI being integrated into all types of products, from computers to smartphones, video games and even appliances. Beyond the overarching AI theme, there’s plenty more you can expect to see from the show. Here are 6 themes we believe will be among the biggest at the show.

Personalized Home Entertainment

All the major brands like Samsung, LG, Sony, and Hisense will be showcasing new TV technologies with a particular focus on the TV becoming a central hub of the living room. This includes improvements to things like picture and sound quality. But most important this year will be the smart TV interface and ways the TV can be used to access additional features. This will range from playing back music to controlling and monitoring compatible smart home devices, accessing things like games and fitness apps, and more. The TV is quickly becoming a large-screened computer on the wall, but it’s for much more than just passive viewing. The experience will become more personalized with profiles, voice control, more powerful recommendations engines, saved settings, and more. We are already seeing such technologies, but many brands will be looking on how to improve the experience.

Actionable Health Tech

Since COVID-19 dominated the conversation, the health tech space has been expanding into new and exciting avenues. High-tech masks and air purifiers dominated a few years ago, and we expect to see air quality products remain a focal point this year. There will also be advanced wearables designed to track not just workouts, steps, and heart rate, but also things like temperature, stress levels, even blood glucose. The shift here is on actionable insights that provide a holistic picture of health along with tips, suggestions, and advice on how to improve everything from sleep to heart health. Wearables now come in all forms as well, from advanced rings to wristworn devices. Health tech will also shift focus to accessibility with various technologies and features that make the latest in tech accessible for all, despite different abilities when it comes to vision, hearing, and mobility.

Hearables and Audio

Audio is always a core part of CES, from smart speakers to mini Bluetooth speakers and premium home theatre speakers and soundbars. This won’t change for 2024 with all types of audio products scattered throughout the show floor as well as in demo rooms for more discerning products and listeners. Hearables were a big category in 2023, wireless earbuds catering to those with hearing limitations. Hearing aids are no longer big, bulky, embarrassing devices but tiny buds that fit into your ears and help enhance dialogue while reducing distracting ambient noise. There will be greater personalization and customization with the latest models, all geared towards helping people hear better and become part of the conversation.

Smart Glasses

Thanks to devices like the upcoming Apple Vision Pro and Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses, that category is poised to be big in 2024. Along with functioning as a source of audio on your face that doesn’t cover your ears, these glasses can also help you capture memories on the fly, access virtual worlds, and even converse with chatbots to get answers to queries. A growing trend in this space is also audible translation. Models like the Solos AirGo smart glasses, for example, can deliver real-time, on the fly translation both while you speak and when the person you’re talking to speaks in their native language.

High-tech Laptops

Laptops have always garnered attention at CES, with models for workers, students, and gamers. This year will be no different with innovations from hardware companies like HP and Asus and software brands like Intel. AI is going to enter the laptop space in a big way to make computing more intelligent, personalized, and streamlined. Expect to see AI built into every new computer of every design coming to market in 2024 and beyond. It won’t only be about the computers themselves: peripheral brands will be introducing exciting new technologies in everything from wireless mice to keyboards, gaming headphones and headsets, and more.

Automotive Tech of the Future

The automotive tech section at CES has been getting bigger and bigger each year. This year, it will return to take over the entire West Hall venue of the show, which will highlight the latest in vehicle tech and advanced mobility. The focus will continue to be on technology like self-driving and electric cars, but also on newer modes of transportation, from the ground to the air and even the seas via marine tech. CES 2024 also promises to showcase advancements in car audio and entertainment, personal mobility, electric motorcycles, bikes, and scooters, agricultural machines, and new concept vehicles that will be flooding Instagram and other social media accounts and eliciting plenty of “oohs” and “ahhs.”

In some ways, CES 2024 will be more of the same. But technology is constantly evolving, improving, and getting more powerful. CES is the perfect way to kick off a new year and show what’s to come for the next 12 months as well as visions for the future well beyond that. It will be an exciting show. We’ll be bringing more details about what was there when we return.
