On May 7, global leaders from around the world will gather at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, BC for the inauguralThe Next Billion: Women & The Economy of the Future conference, to discuss practical ways that woman can contribute to successes in the international business economy. And among the speakers are a few women who play their hand in the tech world.

These include Daisy Auger-Dominguez, Vice President, Talent Acquisition, Organization & Workforce Diversity, Disney ABC Television Group; Inhi Cho Suh, Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, IBM Analytics; Marianne Schoenig, Global (Non-US) Supplier Diversity & Inclusion Lead at Accenture; and Gabi Zedlmayer, Vice President and Chief Progress Officer at HP.

The speakers, of which there are a confirmed 16, will discuss with attendees from the worlds of business, government, education, and nonprofitswhy and how women are important to the long-term profitability and growth of businesses in the banking, consumer product, technology, and manufacturing sectors, among others. They will share insights, actions, and policies that have already been used to tap the business potential of women. Daisy Auger-Dominguez, Vice President, Talent Acquisition, Organization & Workforce Diversity, Disney ABC Television Group

Based in Los Angeles, Auger-Dominquez has been with Disney ABC since 2012. Prior to that, she worked with Time Warner Inc. In her current position, she is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and alignment of talent acquisition and diversity at the company. Properties under her belt include ABC Entertainment Group, ABC News, ABC Owned TV Stations Group, Disney Channels Worldwide, ABC Family, and SOAPnet. Auger-Dominquez is a “passionate supporter for the advancement of women and girls,” reads her LinkedIn profile.

Inhi Cho Suh, Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, IBM Analytics

Suh, who lives in New York City, has been in her current position with IBM for almost two years, but has been with the firm for more than a decade. A graduate of Duke University, she is responsible for P&L for IBM’s Big Data, Integration, and Governance portfolio, which consists of everything from Stream Computing to data security and privacy.

Marianne Schoenig, Global (Non-US) Supplier Diversity & Inclusion Lead at Accenture

Working in the U.K., Schoenig leads Accenture’s global programs in 20 countries outside of the U.S., working to encourage supply chains pay more attention to SMBs, including those owned by women, ethnic minorities, and persons with disabilities. She is also a board director of WEConnect International, which looks to increase opportunities for women-owned businesses in 12 countries, including Canada.

Gabi Zedlmayer, Vice President and Chief Progress Officer at HP

In addition to her executive position at HP, which she’s held in Switzerland for close to two years, Zedlmayer is also the President of the Female Customer Advisory Council at Hypo VereinsbankUnicredit. The HVB Women’s Council consists of 30 businesswomen who look to address the needs of female customers, and offer the necessary support. In her position at HP, Zedlmayer works with her team to help solve issues relating to health, education, and the environment.

Lisa Wolverton is the organizer of the conference, as well as a business owner herself, and philanthropist. “Women have the potential to drive enormous economic growth in the coming decade,” she says, “and businesses need to recognize the impact they can have.
