HP retires Palm brand by announcing new WebOS smartphones,TouchPad tablet and PCs

Yesterday’s WebOS pow-wow in San Francisco saw HP making its most significant moves and revelations since the acquisition of Palm last year. HP lifted the lid on the TouchPad WebOS tablet, a spanking new Pre 3 smartphone and a funky new smartphone called the HP Veer. Hinting at WebOS PCs in the future and forever sealing the Palm brand.

HP has officially entered the tablet wars with its TouchPad, while also going after smartphone consumers with both the Pre3 and Veer handsets. Canadian availability is still unannounced, but there is a possibility that all three will have launched in the Great White North by the summertime.

Telus will unlock any of its phones for $50 fee

Telus announced that, starting February 15, it will unlock any phone it offers for a flat fee of $50. The caveat to all this is that you need to be a Telus customer with a monthly plan.
