Earlier this month, Fundica Roadshow (FRS), a coast-to-coast pitch competition for Canadian tech startups, announced the winners of their Montreal stop to an event, record-setting audience of more than 400 attendees.

Prior to the announcement, nineteen entrepreneurs took to the stage to pitch their startups to a panel of angels, VCs, banks, and government organizations. The pitches were organized according to the type of funding sought—pre-seed, seed, or series A—and one winner was chosen from each funding category based on their market potential, solution, team, pitch, and investment-readiness. In total, the Fundica Roadshow received the support of 16 funders and welcomed 141 pitch applicants to its Montreal event.

Alkis Papadopoullos, Daniella DeGrace , Daniel Cohen ,

Alkis Papadopoullos of Semeon, Daniella DeGrace of ProcedureFlow and Daniel Cohen of InVivo AI, won the pre-seed, seed, and series A rounds, respectively.

InVivo AI uses artificial intelligence to streamline the development of new drugs by predicting which compounds will have manageable safety profiles in clinical testing; Semeon is a SaaS, knowledge-based search engine whose patented, semantic AI algorithm discerns meaning, sentiment, intent, and prediction; and ProcedureFlow is a SaaS software that provides employees with a visual map of complex operating procedures and information.

All three winners received three months of free office space at WeWork, $20,000 in Google Cloud hosting credits, a free, one-year subscription to Intuit Quickbooks, a cloud package from CANARIE, and a spot at the FRS grand finale, when they will compete against the finalists from the other city stops for an equity Investment Award of up to $500,000.

“Events like these are incredibly important for early-stage companies like ours,” said InVivo AI co-founder Daniel Cohen. “This is the first time we’ve had access to such a diverse and deep set of investors, judges, and fellow startups in the Montreal ecosystem. So, we’re extremely excited to be here, and we’re extremely excited to move forward with Fundica on July 12th.”

The Fundica Roadshow will make its next stop in Vancouver on May 31st, 2018 and will make its final stop in Toronto on June 28th, 2018. The finale event will take place on July 12th, 2018 when the top startups will pitch for the Investment Award. Applicants to pitch remain open until May 19th, and parties interested in attending the event can purchase tickets for all three upcoming events.

The Fundica Roadshow is an initiative by Fundica, which started in 2013.
